Rows of tiny homes have started popping up in a vacant parking lot at the corner of Florin Road and Power Inn Road in Sacramento County.

This will be the site of a new "Safe Stay Community" being assembled by the Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps.

The tiny homes will be used to shelter people experiencing homelessness in the county.

The homes sit atop a vacant lot that was once the site of a grocery store.

Officials say it will take about 10 days to assemble the homes that are transported to the area on pallets.

After the cabins are constructed and placed in their spots, power and sewer lines will be run to the homes.

The site will also have staff quarters where site operators will live full-time to manage who is coming and going from the community.

This community is expected to house 125 people when it opens in late fall.

Earlier this month, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors approved another Stay Safe site at the parking lot of the Health and Human Services Building. That's located at 7001 East Parkway.
